Burnside Lodge

Step into the charm of a pristine, beautifully maintained heritage farmhouse in the heart of the KZN Midlands. With its original Oregon pine floors, spacious garden and timeless, refined character, it offers a warm and welcoming space for friends and family to gather. Surrounded by nature, it's perfect for slowing down, sharing special moments, or exploring the Midlands Meander. Peaceful and private, yet centrally close to everything, with modern comforts and charming character at every corner.

The space
Welcome to your Midlands retreat - a character-filled farmhouse with 3 stylish queen bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 en-suite), perfect for families or groups, friends or couples seeking a romantic hideaway.

The heart of the home is a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need, from a gas hob and electric oven to a Nespresso machine and dishwasher. Cook up a feast and enjoy it around the dining table or step out to the newly built undercover braai area.

Two lounges offer plenty of space to relax: the main lounge has a cozy fireplace, DSTV and Wi-Fi, while the sun lounge is filled with light and overlooks the garden. Step onto the veranda for your morning coffee and admire the sweeping views over the koi pond and Bosch Hoek valley.

Outdoors, explore established gardens with big trees and seasonal flowers, a catch-and-release trout dam, walking trails with views over Balgowan, and the historic Zeederberg coach route along the boundary. Kids will love the jungle gym, swings, and friendly farm animals, while birdwatchers will find the perfect perch.

This is a peaceful countryside getaway where you can truly slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the Midlands Meander right on your doorstep.

Guest access
Guests enjoy the exclusive use of the farmhouse, gardens, and all listed amenities during their stay. For peace of mind, our caretaker and his wife live in a separate cottage on the property and are available if you need assistance. The owners also have a private residence on the estate, separated from the guest areas, ensuring your well-deserved privacy.

Other things to note
For the safety of our animals and yours, we are not able to accommodate guest dogs. We have our own friendly dogs on the property (kept separately from the guests), along with free-range chickens, turkeys, and the occasional visit from scrub hares and buck in the garden. These add to the charm of the farm experience, but please keep in mind it's a shared natural space.
